Russia: voting leaders for new RUB 1,000 banknote design
In the public vote on imagery for the redesigned RUB 1,000 banknote, the Academic Gallery in Pyatigorsk and Mount Elbrus are leading. Issuance is planned for H2 2026.
Among the front-side options for the new RUB 1,000 banknote, the Academic (Elizabethan) Gallery in Pyatigorsk is leading with more than 430,000 votes, followed by the eagle on Mount Goryachaya (120,000) and Mount Beshtau (67,000).
Among the back-side options, Mount Elbrus is leading with 330,000 votes, followed by the Grozny-City business district with 295,000.
Voting runs from 1 to 14 October 2025; issuance of the redesigned banknote is planned for the second half of 2026.
The new note will join the updated 'one banknote – one federal district' series, which already includes redesigned RUB 100 and RUB 5,000 banknotes.
