Case study
Three years without returns and a foreign account
The request
The client had an account abroad. No returns had been filed for three years, and no notification of the opening of the account had been sent. The client understood neither the scale of the problem nor how to put it right, and expected heavy penalties for currency violations.
What we did
We retrieved the account statements for three years and broke the history down into separate episodes; for each we checked the limitation period and calculated the tax and interest. We prepared 3-NDFL returns for 2023, 2024 and 2025 and a notification of the opening of the account, saved them in the client’s online account and handed over instructions for paying funds into the single tax account. In addition we checked the grounds for tax deductions for the same years and took them into account in the calculation.
The result
The client became compliant for the three years within 4 business days – three 3-NDFL returns and one notification of the opening of the account. The penalties for currency violations came down to a few thousand roubles instead of the sums the client had expected, some of the episodes were closed by the limitation period, and the final price was quoted in advance and in full.
