Authorities consider raising VAT to 22%
The authorities are discussing raising VAT from 20% to 22%. The increase will not affect socially important goods.
VAT was last raised in 2019 — from 18% to 20%. From January, profit tax was increased from 20% to 25%, and a progressive personal income tax scale of 13% to 22% was introduced.
The Finance Ministry had earlier stated that no systemic changes to tax policy are planned before 2028, as the 2025–2027 budget ensures stable financing.
