The regional pension gap has exceeded twofold
The gap in old-age pensions in Russia in the first half of 2025 exceeded twofold: 41,600 roubles in Chukotka versus 19,400 in Kabardino-Balkaria. The national average is around 25,000 roubles.
The gap hit a record since 2021, widening by 16% over the year. The difference is linked to wage levels: in the North they are higher because of harsh working conditions.
In July the average pension was 25,098 roubles: 22,100 for working pensioners and 25,800 for non-working ones. The Social Fund may withhold up to 50% of a pension for debts and up to 70% for alimony, while preserving the subsistence minimum.
